Sociological Abstracts. 196o+. contains citations from more than 1900 sociology and other social science journals.

All Subjects/Multidisciplinary indexes and databases.

Literature Resource Center. Provides full-text access to biographies, bibliographies, and critical analysis of authors and their works from every age and literary discipline. It covers thousands of novelists, poets, philosophers, essayists, journalists and other writers. Searchable fields include: Author Name, Title, Genre, Literary Movement, and Literary Themes. Useful for finding information on philosophers and their works.

Internet Resources

ARDA: American Religion Data Archive. A collection of quantitative data sets for the study of American religion.

American Religious Experience. Teaching resource produced by scholars from several universities with links to biographies, book reviews and information on women's religious experience. The "American Religion Links" leads to several electronic journals, including The North Star: a Journal of African American Religious History.

American Philosophical Society. Provides access to the substantial library and manuscript collection of the APS, as well as Webcasts of meetings and proceedings.

Bible Gateway. Offers searches by passage, keyword etc. The user can choose from 81 Bibles, 56 searchable texts, and more, in 16 translations and 29 languages. Also includes commentaries and dictionaries.

Buddhanet Provides many full-text primary and secondary materials for the Therevada and Mahayana traditions. Includes reference tools such as history time-lines, directories of organizations and teachers, and up-to-date news.

Catholic Encyclopedia (1913) This is the online version of the 1913 edition, valuable because of its many entries of historical value.

Center for Christian-Jewish Learning Provides access to articles and links to related sites, also many documents from within and without the center (Boston College)

Christian Classics Ethereal Library. Heavily used site worldwide, on the Web since 1994, overseen by Harry Plantinga of Calvin College. A very useful site to find online texts of the Christian tradition.

Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy.

Islam and Islamic Studies An excellent, selective guide to Islamic resources on the Web. It includes primary documents and scholarly secondary sources.

Islamic Studies--Islam, Arabic and Religion. Web site of Dr. Alan Godlas, professor, Department of Religion at the University of Georgia.

Judaism and Jewish Resources. This page shows you the gates to these resources, so that you may go in and explore.

New Advent Catholic Website. Includes 1913 Catholic Encyclopedia, Church documents, newspapers and many links to other sources on Catholicism.

New Testament Gateway. Web information on the New Testament. Subject headings include: Greek New Testament, Non-Canonical Christian Texts, Bible Translations and Editions, and Textual Criticism. Maintained by Dr. Mark Goodacre of the University of Birmingham, England.

Philosophy in Cyberspace...... Meta site with great topics links and useful information.

Philosophy Research Base. Meta-index of Internet philosophy resources that links to large philsophy sites and to specific subjects in those sites. Sites are indexed by individual philosophers, subjects and historical periods. Variety of virtual resources for beginning, intermediate and advanced students.

The Pluralism Project. Description and reports of the Pluralism Project at Harvard University, directed by Diana L. Eck. Research that explored primarily non-Jewish and non-Christian religious communities, with the purpose of documenting religion in the U.S. since the 1965 Immigration Act. A particularly useful link is the online version of World Religions in Boston.

Standford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. A "dynamic encyclopedia," allowing entries to be updated as research dictates. This is a "work in progress" with Stanford University Department of Philosophy serving as advisory board.

Virtual Religion Index. Assembled by Mahlon H. Smith (Religion, Rutgers University) to guide researchers to links to home pages, indexes and documents. Most useful as a guide for undergraduates.
