Demographic Yearbook. Annuare Demographique. REF. HA 17 .D45 This U.N. publication provides international statistical data, such as population, vital statistics, infant mortality, and migration. Each edition has a special focus. This series runs late in publication; the latest print edition received by the Library is for 2002. Some updated data is available on the UN Web Site.


Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. REF. HC244 .E225 This is a Europa publication. Trial access to updated information is available from the Europa web page.


The Europa World Year Book. REF. JN 1 .E85 The Europa World Year Book is updated annually and provides statistical and directory information on the countries of the world.

European Business Facts and Figures. REF. HC241.2 .P313 2002 A publication of the Euopean Communities, Eurostat office, this publication provides business statics for countries in the European Union.

The International Year Book and Statesman's Who's Who. REF. JA 51 .I57 Biennially provides brief political and statistical information on the countries of the world, with biographical entries for key political and business leaders.


Political Handbook of the World. REF. JF 37 .P6 Published annually, the Political Handbook includes detailed political information on every country in the world.


The Statesman's Yearbook and International Book of Facts. REF. JA 51 .S7 Published biennially, describes more than twenty major international organizations in some detail, & provides information on the history, area & population, climate, constitution & government, GNP, defense, commerce, communications, foreign relations, social climate, and diplomats for the countries of the world.


Statistical Yearbook. (UNESCO) REF. AZ 361 .U45 Annual publication providing international statistics on education, literacy, scientific and technical manpower, r&d funding, publishing, and communications. Some updated information is available from the UNESCO web site.


Statistical Yearbook. (UN Statistical Office) REF. HA 12.5 .U63 International statistics on population, production, wages, prices, consumption, finance, culture, agriculture, manufacturing, mining, energy, trade, transport and communications are supplied. Publication lags 4-5 years. Some updates are available from the UN Statistical Office web site.


World Development Indicators (World Bank). REF. HC59.7 .W67 2005 CD-ROM files included with some years (see the Library Catalog for BU holdings.) Additional data is available from the World Bank web site.

Year Book of Labour Statistics. (UN/ILO)' REF. HD 4826 .I63 International statistics on employment, wages, labor costs, consumer prices, occupational injuries, and labor stoppages are given. Some updates are available from the UN/ILO web site.

Exporting and Foreign Business Practices

A Basic Guide to Exporting. REF HF 1009.6 .B344 This is a comprehensive manual on the export trade which provides a step-by-step approach to setting up an export market. Topics covered include selecting foreign markets, pricing, shipping products, export documentation, licensing, business travel abroad, and available export assistance services. Updates are available from the Export Basics web site, provided by relevant agencies of the U.S. government.


International Business Law and Its Environment. REF. K 1005.4 .S33 This book describes the legal environment of international business, including: international sales, credits and commercial transactions, international and U.S. trade law, and regulation of the international marketplace. Pertinent cases are cited and abstracted.

Stat-USA Stat-USA is a subscription-based government web site, with content provided and/or aggregated by the Commerce Department. Information available via this site includes: U.S. economic and monetary statistical series; international trade information--including Market Research Reports, Country Commercial Guides, and Country Studies; and international and trade statistics. The Bradley Library has a site license for Stat-USA, so you should be able to access it from anywhere on campus, or log in through the Proxy Server for off-campus use.

Information on Companies

D & B Principal International Businesses: the World Marketing Directory. REF .HF54 .U5 P74 This directory is an international version of the Million Dollar Directory. Listings include more than 55,000 companies in 143 countries. Updated regularly.


Hoover's International Company Reports are available in the Company Profiles subsection of the Business Section of Lexis-Nexis


International Directory of Company Histories. REF. HD2721 .I63 Detailed information on major public and private companies thoughout the world. Check the index of the latest volume for access to company reports. Additional volumes are added several times a year.


World Business Directory 2001. REF. HF54.U5 W667 Four volumes, detailed information on nearly 140,000 businesses involved in international trade.

Indexes & Online Databases

NOTE: These are subscription databases and require Bradley login and password for off-campus access.


ABI Inform ABI Inform provides access to over 1,800 periodicals that include U.S. and international articles on business and management. It provides abstracts of articles from international professional publications, academic journals, and trade magazines and offers the full text for many of the articles. Coverage is from 1971 to the present with weekly updates. ABI Inform is particularly useful for scholarly resources.


Business Source Elite Provides full text access to over 1,000 journals, and indexing and abstracts for 1,560 journals covering business, management, economics, finance, banking, accounting, etc. Journals include popular business publications such as Business Week, Forbes, and Harvard Business Review, and hundreds of scholarly, peer reviewed journals.

Euromonitor--Passport Markets. Global consumer market information, with demographics, trends and developments, market background, market sizes and forecasts, market shares, key players, and company profiles. You will also find demographic, economic and marketing statistics for countries all over the world. PROVIDED THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF THE CATERPILLAR FOUNDATION.

Factiva The Publications Library section of the Factiva web site includes numerous international publications.


Lexis-Nexis Academic The Lexis-Nexis suite of databases includes two sections of interest for people doing research in International Business. The Academic database includes general news, business information, and legal information with international content.


Lexis-Nexis Statistical provides access to both national and multi-national statistical tables and information and links to useful web sites.


(PAIS) Public Affairs Information Service. PAIS is the premier global public policy resource database indexing political, economic, and social issues in current debate. It covers the public and social policy literature of business, economics, finance, law, international relations, public administration, government, political science, and other social sciences -- with emphasis on issues that are or might become the subjects of legislation. The Library has print volumes through 1993. REF. Z7163 .P9 More recent data may be accessed only via mediated online searching. Executive Planet Wiki This Wiki provides business etiquette information for international business relations. Just type the name of your country of interest into the search box for information on appointments, dress guidelines, modes of address, polite and impolite conversation topics, gift giving, deal making, entertaining, and public behavior.

globalEDGE Michigan State University's International Business site includes various types of information of use for international business, including: exchange rates, country insights, travel and cultural information, news, and statistical information.
