How to Find Books & Journals in Peoria Area Libraries

If you need a book or journal article, and you don't have time to wait for Interlibrary Loan (a week to ten days, on average) you may want to look in an area library. There are several libraries in reasonable driving distance, and you can check their holdings (what journals and books they own) online. Here's how:

Peoria Area Public Libraries

Peoria Public Library 107 NE Monroe Peoria, IL 61602 309-497-2000 http://www.peoria.lib.il.us/

To check for magazines and journals, you can use the Worldcat

Getting to the Peoria Public Library

The Peoria Public Library Main Library is downtown, at the bottom of Main Street hill, on the corner of Main and Monroe. It is on your left, as you’re driving East, towards the river. Map

The ALS/RSA catalog consortium includes several public libraries in the area, including: Alpha Park Public Library (Bartonville), Fondulac Library (E. Peoria), Peoria Heights Public Library,Pekin Public Library, and Morton Public Library.

When you search the ALS/RSA catalog, you can choose to search all of the libraries in the consortium, some of them, or any one library.

Before planning to visit any of the area libraries, it's a good idea to give them a call first to see whether you will be able to check out materials. The Bradley Library has consortial arrangements with many ALS libraries, but sometimes policies are changed without our prior knowledge.

Peoria Area Academic & Medical Libraries

The University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) Library is a member of the same catalog consortium as Bradley.

You can also search for items that are available at UICOMP by searching the Bradley Library catalog and expanding your search to all ISHARE Libraries.

UICOMP is located at the bottom of Main Street hill, on your right as you go East, towards the Illinois River. A map is available from the Library's web page.

Illinois Central College is a community college serving the Peoria metro area. The main campus is in East Peoria and additional campuses are in Downtown Peoria and North Peoria. More information, including Library catalog access is available from the ICC Library web page

Maps and directions for ICC campuses are available on the ICC Web Page
